Town Manager-Chadbourn, NC. (Population - Approximately 1600) The Town Of Chadbourn, Columbus County, North Carolina, Is Seeking An Experienced Leader For The Full-Time Position Of Town Manager. Chadbourn Is Historically Known As The “Strawberry Capital Of The World” With The State’s Longest Running Agricultural Festival. Located Approximately 45 Miles From The Coast, Primarily Served By US Route 76 And NC 410. The City Operates In The Council-Manager Form Of Government And Is Governed By An Elected Mayor And A Five-Member City Council. The City Has A Stable And Experienced Governing Board With A Progressive Mindset. Chadbourn Has A General Fund Budget Of Approximately $2.2 Million, And Water And Sewer Fund Of $1.1 Million. The Town Provides Police Protection And Water/Sewer Services With Town Employees, And Contracts For Code Enforcement, Land Use Regulations, And Sanitation Collection. The Town Manager Serves As The Chief Administrator And Is Responsible To The Mayor And Council For The Town’s Day-To-Day Operations. Implement Ordinances, Policies, And Budget Adopted By The Town Council; Attend All Council Meetings; Prepare, Submit And Implement The Annual Budget And Capital Program. Requirements
The Town Manager Must Possess Strong Oral And Written Communication Skills, Particularly In Use Of Microsoft Word and Excel, Administrative Experience; Excellent Interpersonal Communication Skills; And Work Equally Well With The Town Council, And State And County Agencies, Staff, And Citizens. Chadbourn Has A Small Staff, So The Town Manager Must Be A Worker And Leader, As Well As Manager, Willing To “Pitch In” Where Needed Is Important. Chadbourn Has Not Experienced Growth, Therefore, The Council Also Considers A Strong Background In Economic Development And Understanding Of Planning And Zoning Or Closely Related Fields Is Highly Desirable. A Bachelor’s Degree With Experience In Municipal Government/Related Public Sector Organization, an MPA, or An Equivalent Combination Of Education And Experience is sought.
