Rutherford County is seeking a County Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities: This position reports to a five-member Board of County Commissioners. Note: Three members of the current Board have chosen not to run for re-election this year. As a result, candidates for these open seats will be invited to participate in the interview process as observers. The County Manager supervises the administration of all county offices. The Manager is responsible for managing a $87 +million budget and supervising approximately 688 full/part time employees. Applicants must have an extensive understanding of the operations and organization of public administration principles and best practices and a thorough knowledge of budgeting comprehension. The manager represents the county by serving on various boards within the county. Effective oral and verbal communication skills are essential to establish and build relationships with citizens, community leaders and organizations, businesses, government officials, media representatives, commissioners, department heads, and employees. Education and Experience: Degree in public administration, business administration or a comparable field with a minimum of five years experiences in County Management or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
